My name is John Rea, I am a chartered accountant and work in public sector finances. I am from Kilwaughter near Larne, County Antrim.
I graduated from the University of Glasgow in Accounting & Finance, Glasgow is a great city, full of energy and perfect for young people wanting to socialise and see a new bustling friendly city which is close to home.
I have worked predominantly in the corporate finance world for 10 years until very recently having moved into the public sector specifically Education Authority.
Outside of work I am a council member of Belfast Junior Chamber of Commerce, a young professional networking and personal development organisation for 18-40 year olds, and I have the role of treasurer. Further this year I have become a member of The Rotary Club of Belfast which involves lots of exciting event organising and charity fundraising events.
I have worked with Youth Action before as part of the Islands of Innovation steering group, and I have supported YANI events and fundraisers across the years.
Looking forward to engaging in another fantastic YANI project this year, putting relevant contacts in touch with “Our Story In The Making” project and ensuring the legacy of the project ensues well beyond 2021.
Look forward to meeting with you all in person at some point in the near future and best wishes to the fantastic youth advisory group whom I hear are doing a wonderful job thus far.
