YouthAction NI value the contribution that youth work makes to building a society that is shared, peaceful, stable and fair; and in which there is no place for violence.
We do this by:

Engaging with young people through our local member groups:

  • Contact: Spaces in which young people can meet and build good relations with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Facilitated discussions: Exploring the impact of the conflict on everyday life.
  • Activism: Supporting youth volunteering and leadership.
  • Political literacy: Increasing young people’s political engagement and active citizenship (democracy building youth work).
  • Economic growth: Investing in opportunities for young people to be employed and to address poverty.
  • Future: Supporting young people to have a shared vision that embraces inter-culturalism across Northern Ireland and globally.

Developing the workforce

  • Training: Shared support and training on youth work and peace building.
  • Research: Undertaking/collating research that captures the perspectives of young people, volunteers and youth workers.
  • Collaboration: Building coalitions of like-minded youth work organisations that commit to peace-building.
